On Wednesday Jurgen Klinsmann announced his list of players to bring to the USA vs. Mexico friendly on April 2nd. The friendly marks the unofficial beginning of the march to the World Cup in Brazil starting in just a few months. The Seattle Sounders will have three of their current starters representing the team and a bit of a surprise addition for one of them. In a perfect world the team will not miss it’s three stars as the friendly will be played in-between a game on the 29th of March and April 5th. However, if any of the three players see significant minutes, they will likely not be starters for Seattle when they return in their first match, against the Portland Timbers at Jeld-Wen Field on April 5th.
If you watched the game against Jamaica in the qualifying round in 2013, when Evans hit a game clinching goal to propel the USMNT to a group stage lead and eventually a #1 ranking int he group qualifying you knew that was his moment. At that point he went from a decent MLS starter to someone who could help lead a country to victory. Klinsmann uses him as a defender in his formations, however do not underestimate Evans’ goal scoring prowess.
