Sounders’ Erik Friberg Really Loves Seattle

Up here in Seattle, there are times we feel a bit forgotten in the metropolitan landscape. No one here wants to be equated to LA nor NYC, don’t get me wrong. Except, the international reputations these cities have are arguably

what have led to some off-the-charts signings for both the L.A. Galaxy and NYCFC. That’s not even factoring in the rumor mill churning out a tidbit of how if Ronaldo played in the states, he’d only play for LA.

Sure, LA and NYC are cool cities (I am a proud New Yorker by birth), but neither are as rich with soccer history as Seattle. And neither city offers the ideal temperature for playing 90 minutes on a pitch.

And neither city can come close to the level of fandom produced by Sounders Nation.

That’s why it’s so refreshing to have Erik Friberg back in Rave Green. While he may not be a Lampard, Gerrard or Kaka, he is an international player who understands that there are other cities in the U.S. aside from NYC and LA.

So, now that Friberg’s back … and really happy about it … let’s rehash his journey back to the Emerald City.
