Find out how to watch the Seattle Sounders take on the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS preseason action on Wednesday.
MLS preseason is well underway. The Seattle Sounders will play their first friendly of the preseason against a familiar foe, the Vancouver Whitecaps. This match is the first of three games which will take place in Tuscon, Arizona before the MLS side competes in CCL action against Club America in a two-legged match later in February and March.
This match against the Whitecaps will serve a few purposes. First, it will allow the team to continue working on their fitness and training. Up until this point the team hasn’t played a full 11v11 game yet and the match will allow the coaching staff to evaluate the team more effectively.
At the same time, this is only one match so there won’t be a lot to take away from it that will serve fans well come October. Yet, the coaching staff and players will be able to see where they are at currently and what needs to be addressed in further practices down the road. Preseason is about the big picture and long-term plan due to the fact that winning in preseason is nice, but that’s not the primary factor or purpose of these games.
It’s the first preseason friendly for either side, so expect the chemistry not to be the best and there to be a lot of not pretty things happen. Preseason is about getting the cobwebs dusted off and getting themselves to full fitness when the season starts in march.
Wednesday’s friendly is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. PST. The match will be able to be viewed on YouTube and through SoundersFC.com.
