Match Preview: Reign Rematch Against Sky Blue

The Seattle Reign take to the road to claim three points against Sky Blue FC in New Jersey.

The Sounders aren’t the only team with a game in New Jersey today. The Seattle Reign are also over there, taking on Sky Blue FC for the second time this season. The first match between these two teams was the season opener where Sky Blue came out on top with a 2-1 at Memorial Stadium, handing the Reign their first home loss since August of 2013.

Last week, the Reign ended a four match winless streak with a win over the Houston Dash thanks to a goal in the 66th minute from Havana Solaun in her first NWSL start. The Reign will look to pick up another win against a Sky Blue team that has been winless in the past three matches and coming off a 1-1 draw against FC Kansas City.

This is an important game for the NWSL standings as well. A win or a draw today would move the Reign into fifth place, overtaking the Orland Pride who lost Saturday to the Washington Spirit 2-0. But if Sky Blue gets the win, they would move above the Reign to take sixth place in the NWSL, pushing the Reign back down to seventh.
