The 2025 season for Seattle Reign FC is ending, the floor starts moving under roster decision season, and the club naturally faces change. Three players with contracts expiring at the end of this year are about to head into new chapters, and all signs point to none of them walking back through those team doors come 2026. Let’s meet them.
Here’s a look at three players who are very likely not coming back for Seattle in 2026.
3 Seattle Reign players who ended their reigns in 2025
Veronica Latsko
Forward Veronica Latsko signed a new deal with Seattle Reign FC back in February 2024, but that only lasted until the end of the 2025 season. And in September, the club announced that she’d be hanging up her boots when the 2025 campaign finished up.
In her time with the Reign, she played in 61 regular-season matches, started 30 of them, and had some real clutch moments — Who can forget scoring those 2 playoff game-winning goals in the 2023 NWSL quarterfinals and semis that really helped take them all the way to the championship match?
Before she joined the Reign, she was part of the Houston Dash team that won the Challenge Cup back in 2020.
And since she’s already gone public with her plans to retire, it's pretty clear she's not coming back to the Reign in 2026. Her departure leaves Seattle a hole to fill - not a superstar, but a player who brought that intangible stuff - grit, reliability & the ability to step up and make the big moments count.
Jess Fishlock
Midfielder Jess Fishlock has been a foundation stone of Seattle Reign FC since its very first NWSL season back in 2013. She recently announced her retirement after a long and successful career.
Seattle Reign FC has always been very close to Fishlock . She’s been with the club since the very start. Her resumé with the club is a long one: she helped the Reign win 3 NWSL Shields (2014, 2015 and 2022) and has built up a collection of multiple Championship appearances. Seattle Reign FC.
Individually, though, Fishlock has hit some pretty notable career highlights . In 2021, she was named NWSL MVP and has made 7 selections to the Best XI (5 first team , 2 second team) ; the second highest number in NWSL history . That's a pretty impressive tally of recognitions.
And of course, her name is written in Seattle Reign FC history as she holds the club record for assists (28) and is second all-time at the club for goals (42 as of the 2024 season).
Ana‑Maria Crnogorčević
Swiss international forward Ana-Maria Crnogorčević joined the Reign on August 5th 2024, signing a 1-year deal through to the end of 2025.
Before making the move to Seattle, though, she spent a few seasons playing for the top-of-the-line European clubs — and we’re talking Barcelona Femení and Atlético Madrid Femenino here — and has become a Swiss legend, holding the record for the most international caps (159) and goals (74) for both the country’s men’s and women’s teams.
While Seattle might have only seen her for a relatively short time so far, the 1-year contract , her age, and the fact that she’s from Europe all suggest that after 2025 she’ll probably be heading back to Europe or somewhere else rather than sticking around in the NWSL long-term.
From a purely roster management point of view , holding onto a veteran international who eats up an international slot might be less of a good idea than sinking money into some of the younger faces that are going to be around for much longer. Without an extension, its looking pretty likely that she’s done in Seattle after 2025.
With these 3 players probably leaving after 2025, Seattle Reign FC needs to have a plan in place for how they’re going to replace those difference-makers on offense and in midfield, and also how to hang on to some of that important leadership and experience while also trying to shake things up and get the roster looking a bit fresher.
