Last time Seattle Sounders faced LAFC

The Seattle Sounders will start their season on the road against the LAFC at the BMO Stadium (formerly Banc of California Stadium). The game will start at 1:30PM (kickoff at 1:55PM) on Saturday, February 24th. Learn more about Sounder season openers.

The last game between the Seattle Sounders and LAFC happened last year on November 26th at Lumen Field. The match was valid for the MLS Western Conference semifinal. Denis Bouanga scored the lone goal for the visitors in the 30th minute, assisted by Timothy Tillman.

The game

The Sounders had their first shot on goal in the second minute of the game. They launched a counterattack, and Léo Chú on the left wing played a pass to Josh Atencio in front of the box. Atencio took a shot, but Crepeau saved it.

Two minutes later, Crepeau made a spectacular save. Cristian Roldan sent a long pass to Jordan Morris, who outran the LAFC center backs. He entered the box and attempted to lob the goalkeeper, but Crepeau got a touch on it and prevented the hosts from scoring.

The visitors took the lead in the 30th minute. Timothy Tillman played a through ball to Denis Bouanga, who slipped past Alex Roldan on the left flank. The 2023 Golden Boot winner sprinted into the penalty area and fired a diagonal shot. Stefan Frei was helpless to stop it.

From a set piece, João Paulo delivered a cross into the penalty area. The defenders attempted to clear the ball, but it fell to Lodeiro, who sent it back into the box. Yeimar attempted a shot, but Tillman made a last-ditch clearance near the goal line.

Alex Roldan tried to score a goal. He dribbled the ball from the right flank to the center and kicked it with his left foot. However, Maxime Crépeau made a great save.

Near the end line, Alex Roldan passed the ball back to João Paulo, who was in front of the box. The Brazilian fired a left-footed shot, but Crepeau stretched himself to tip it away with his fingers.

In the final minutes of the game, Rusnák attempted a long-range shot that was deflected by Crepeau and hit the crossbar.

During the corner kick, Albert Rusnák delivered a cross to Ragen's head. Crepeau again saved it.

Bouanga had a chance to seal the game, but his shot was saved by Frei.
