Player ratings for Seattle Sounders scoreless draw against Austin FC
As expected
5. Alex Roldan
Alex improved his performance significantly from the previous game. He was strong in the defense, with one interception, five tackles, and nine ground duels won. He also contributed to the attack, with two key passes and 92% accuracy in the 50 passes he attempted. He looked fully recovered from the minor injury he suffered in the preseason.
6. Cristian Roldan
Cristian improved his game from the LAFC match, but we expect more from him. He had some good moments in the game, making four key passes. He will get better as he adapts to playing with de la Vega.
7. Nouhou
Nouhou displayed his usual defensive prowess. On the offensive end, he had two attempts on goal: one was stopped by the goalkeeper and the other, with his right foot, missed the target.
8. Obed Vargas
Vargas performed well again as a substitute for the injured João Paulo. He was solid on defense, with one interception, two tackles and six ground duels won. He was also active on offense, with three shot attempts: one missed and two blocked. He frequently offered himself as a passing option for the attackers.
9. Jackson Ragen
Ragen had an easy time defending. Austin's strategy of parking the bus in front of their own box left their attacking players with little effort. On the offense, Ragen had a few chances on headers after set pieces.
10. Andrew Thomas
In the inaugural match at Lumen Field, Andrew Thomas had an easy time maintaining his first clean sheet. He only faced two shots from Austin and made a single save.
