Alana Cook
Defender Alana Cook will stay with Seattle Reign FC until 2024, after her contract option was activated automatically. Cook joined OL Reign permanently in June 2021, having played for Paris Saint-Germain for three seasons. She was named in the NWSL Best XI and competed for the NWSL Defender of the Year award in her first two seasons in the league.
Cook is a consistent starter for Seattle Reign, having played in all 56 games and accumulated 4,995 minutes in the regular season. The Stanford alumna is among the 18 players who have made at least 50 regular-season appearances for the Reign.
In her third season as a defender, she started in every game and had two assists, including her first NWSL assist against Racing Louisville FC on April 29. Cook was among nine defenders in the league who had more than one assist. She also topped the team in successful passes (843) and was second on the team in clearances (53) and interceptions (31).
