Seattle Sounders 2024 Offseason recap - Who is having contracts renewed or extended?
The Rave Green renewed the contract of some of the pillars of the team and guaranteed some of the young talents as well.
Jacob Castro
Jacob Castro is a goalkeeper who signed a professional contract with the club in December 2022, becoming the 21st Homegrown Player in the Sounders' history. He started his soccer career with the Sounders FC Academy in 2017 and made four appearances for the reserve team Tacoma Defiance in 2018. He then played college soccer with the Washington Huskies and the San Diego State from 2019 to 2022.
In the 2023 season, Castro had been on Sounders bench for four times. He played for the Tacoma Defiance in 13 games, with three clean sheets and 19 goals conceded. His contract has club's option for the seasons 2024, 2025 and 2026. He should fight for the second GK spot with Andrew Thomas during this season.
