Seattle Sounders 2024 Offseason recap - Who is having contracts renewed or extended?
Albert Rusnák
Albert Rusnák is a Slovak professional midfielder who joined the club in January 2022 as a free agent after five seasons with Real Salt Lake, where he scored 42 goals and recorded 31 assists in 146 appearances.
Rusnák made an immediate impact for the Sounders, helping them win their first Concacaf Champions League title in 2022. He scored a crucial goal in the first leg of the semifinals against New York City FC and played every minute of the tournament.
In the 2023 season, after Coach Schmetzer benched Nicolas Lodeiro, Rusnák started to play in his natural position as attacking midfielder. And after that the fans started seeing what they expected from the designated player: important goals. He scored seven times in the season, six of them when playing as the "number 10" of the team.
The club had the option to extend Rusnák's contract for one more year and now he is set until the end of the 2024 season.
