Seattle Sounders 2024 Offseason recap - Who is having contracts renewed or extended?
Alex Roldan
Alex Roldan joined the Sounders in 2018 after being drafted from Seattle University, where he played for four seasons. He is the younger brother of Cristian Roldan, who also plays for the Sounders and the United States national team. The brothers made history by becoming the first pair of siblings to start together and earn a goal/assist combination for the Sounders in an MLS match.
Alex has developed into a versatile and reliable defender for the Sounders, playing in various positions across the backline and midfield. He has made 162 appearances for the club and scored three goals and ten assists. He also played a memorable role as an emergency goalkeeper in a match against San Jose Earthquakes in 2021, when he made three saves after Stefan Frei was injured.
Alex's contract was renewed and now ends in December of 2026 with one more year as a club option.
