Seattle Sounders 2024 Offseason recap - Who is having contracts renewed or extended?

The Rave Green renewed the contract of some of the pillars of the team and guaranteed some of the young talents as well.

Josh Atencio is a young and talented midfielder who joined the Sounders academy in 2016 and made his professional debut in 2018 with the club's USL affiliate at that time, Tacoma Defiance. He signed a homegrown contract with the first team in 2020.

Atencio has 83 appearances for the Sounders. In the 2023 season, he scored his first goal with the club and became a regular starter. He signed a new four-year contract with an additional year as a club option. Also, he will now wear the number eight jersey.
