2) LAFC shows off their offensive firepower

The Sounders had already received a warning in the 27th minute, when Carlos Vela appeared to have equalized with an excellent shot past Stefan Frei. However, a reply showed Vela initially controlled the ball with his arm.

In the end though, this only delayed the inevitable. Just three minutes after Arreaga's miss, LAFC equalized for real.

A Sounders turnover proved costly, as Kwadwo Opoku finished off the attack with a heat-seeking missile past Frei into the net. At 1-1, momentum was started to shift in favor of the home side.

LAFC were beginning to turn the screw and almost took their first lead of the night in the 41st minute. However, after the home side had carved up the Sounders defense, Frei made a tremendous point-blank save to deny Chicho Arango.

In the end, LAFC's pressure resulted in them taking the lead just two minutes before half time. José Cifuentes crossed the ball from the left and Vela finally ended his goal drought with a well-timed shot that trickled under Frei's body.

To highlight LAFC's offensive prowess, they finished the night with 19 shots, with eight on target. If it wasn't for Frei, the home side would have likely won more comfortably.
