The Seattle Sounders announced this Thursday (Feb 1) that the club signed the free agent for a two-year contract through the 2025 season with a team option for 2026. Musovski played the last one and half seasons for Real Salt Lake, after two and half years with the LAFC.

"Adding a player with a good attacking skillset like Danny is always a good thing for the club. I can’t wait to get him into our preseason training and see how we can use his talents to benefit our squad."

Brian Schmetzer, Sounders FC Head Coach

Musovski had a successful college career at UNLV. He was named the Nevada Player of the Year as a high school junior and broke the state record for single-season goals as a senior with 58. He played for UNLV from 2014 to 2017 and scored 47 goals in 88 games. He led the Rebels to the WAC Tournament title in both 2014 and 2016, earning tournament MVP honors both seasons. He also won the WAC Offensive Player of the Year award twice and was a two-time All-American.

He was originally drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, but never played for them. He spent two seasons on loan with Reno 1868 FC in the USL Championship, where he scored 18 goals and two assists in 44 appearances.

The American player started his MLS career with the LAFC in the 2020 season. In the first season, Musovski scored five goals and one assist in 20 appearances and 802 minutes on the field. In the following season, four goals and four assists in 22 appearances, most of them coming from the bench, and only 702 minutes.

In the third season with the Black and Golds, he had more minutes on the pitch but got transferred to the Real Salt Lake. For the LAFC, in 19 appearances he scored four goals and one assist. For the RSL, it was only four appearances and no goal contribution on the 2022 season. The 2023 season was the best in his MLS career with 1645 minutes in 34 appearances. He scored nine goals and five assists.

How can Musovski help the Sounders?

The Seattle Sounders struggled in the last season to score goals. The team scored only 41 goals and making them tied in ninth place for worst attack of the league. The attacker from Henderson, Nevada will add more power to the Rave Green squad, according to the Sounders General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer, Craig Waibel.

"We are excited to sign a proven talent like Danny to our squad. We’ve taken steps to bolster our attack this offseason, and Danny gives us another goal-scoring threat add to our arsenal."

Sounders currently have Raul Ruidiaz and Jordan Morris as options for the striker position. Coach Schmetzer said he counts on Morris as a striker for the season and that Morris and Ruidiaz will fight for that spot on the team. Musovski brings depth to the striker position especially because Ruidiaz has been struglling with injuries in the past two seasons and Morris is often called for the national team.

In the last season, Schmetzer had the all-time goal scorer lead Fredy Montero and Heber Araujo. Heber had 25 appearances, for 1102 minutes, two goals and one assist. Montero had 20 appearances, for 633 minutes, three goals and two assists. However, it was clear by the end of the season that the coach didn't count on them anymore as neither had a lot of minutes in the last part of the season, including the playoffs.
