3. Running out of time

As mentioned, there are only 10 matches left in the MLS regular season. Seattle currently sits in seventh place after the loss, pending other results around the league.

Seattle doesn't have a friendly schedule in August, either. The team is on the road a majority of the month. They return home next week against Real Salt Lake, and then it's three-straight road matches against Los Angeles (Aug. 19), Portland (Aug. 26) and Orlando (Aug. 31), with the last match against the Lions on a Wednesday night.

Schmetzer said that the Sounders are well aware that chances are running low to pick up points.

"“The games away from home in MLS are always challenging. You double down on that by having to travel to Orlando midweek. We’ll cross those bridges when we get there... We’ll gear up again for RSL. Then we’ll figure out the next one. Time is running short, we need to start getting some points from those road games. If we kept it 1-1, or did 2-1, then we’d be all smiles and that Orlando trip wouldn’t be as daunting. There are some big games, and I have confidence in the team. They’ve played in many difficult situations. We’ll get through it.” "

Seattle currently has 32 points in 24 matches.
