Fortunately for everyone concerned, the Sounders took the lead just a minute later, before any thoughts of self-doubt could manifest themselves. And Nohou once more proved crucial.
The ball was played down the left wing for Nouho to latch onto. His probing cross to the far post found Montero, who deftly headed the ball home for a 2-1 lead in the 76th minute.
Even with the advantage, the Sounders still pushed forward for more. No doubt they wanted to avoid a repeat of recent games in Atlanta, Los Angeles and Orlando, where stoppage time goals had seen them drop key points.
In the end however, the two goals were enough to end a streak of five games without a win. The elation and relief was evident for all those in attendance.
