Puskas Akademia FC vs Seattle Sounders FC recap, what can we learn

Great news everyone we won our 1st preseason game of the season, beating Puskás Akadémia FC 2-0 with goals from Jordan Morris and Pedro De La Vega after a free kick from João Paulo. It was a comfy win but what can we take from it especially for the upcoming 2025 MLS season, that's what we're here to do today!

It'll be tough since in the 2nd half the entire squad was subbed off we can still speculate how they'll play based on what we see today! 1 stat that stands out is our only 4 shots all day even allowing
Puskás Akadémia FC to have more shots with 6 though we did have 2 shots on target, both of which we scored but the Hungarian club only had 1 and didn't turn it into a goal. We were perhaps playing it safe as well also let them have 50% of the possession. As the players are getting used to playing together and used to playing a full 90 minutes of pro ball again.

The attacking stats were interesting as well as we had less attacks than Puskás Akadémia FC only 60 to the Hungarian points leader 71 but we had more dangerous attacks with 24 to their 21. With the 2nd half full squad sub off it was clear that our foot was off the throttle and we brought most of our attacking intensity to the 1st half. And the 2nd half was testing to see how the young guys do and can work together. Credit to Puskás Akadémia FC they showed a lot of fight and grit especially in the 2nd half where they went all out on the attack.

Overall this is a definition of a tune up game exactly what you'd expect for a 1st preseason game. There's definitely gonna be some things that carry over throughout the season. But we'll only see that as more games unfold, so can't wait to see you again. Thanks a bunch for reading!
