Sounders should end this era already.

2017-2022 was the Sounders golden era, but to have another we start a new era quickly.

From 2017 to 2022 the Sounders had by far it's most successful era ever. Going to 4 straight MLS Cup finals and winning 2 of them so that we didn't pull a Bills. And peaking with the 2022 CCC triumph over Pumas. Us Sounders fans have been spoiled the past few years. Both in accomplishments and in club legends like Frei, Ruidíaz, Morris, Svensson, Paulo, Rusnák and Montero. And I have lots and of lots of respect for the great players who gave everything for the ave Green and led us to greatness. And a connection and memories with many of them that'll never go away. But goodbyes are always best quickly and never delayed. And I'd much rather see them be great somewhere else than to hold the Sounders back. But that's something the Sounders seem to be struggling with themselves.

It's been all quiet on the Sounders front recently in terms of transfers but the recent developments to me show a lack of teeth. We did get rid of Raúl Ruidíaz a heart wrenching departure, I mean always hard to get rid of your all time top scorer. But there was also rumors that both Joao Paulo and Albert Rusnák but not only has nothing happened with the Serbian but Paulo returned to the team this year despite lots of young depth at the position including drafting West Virginia's Ryan Baer. And while part of me is happy to see him back but part of me feels bad so many young players are being held back this season. Including Vargas and Baer.

While again I love these players they aren't getting any younger, Albert Rusnák is 30, João Paulo is 33 and Stefan Frei is 38. All legendary players but who have either stopped being legendary (looking at you Joao Paulo) or won't be legendary for long and it's not like we're short of replacements. The likes of Obed Vargas, Reed Baker-Whiting and promising Stuart Hawkins as well as other depth pieces waiting to breakout such as Jon Bell and Alex Roldán then players that have had flashes of brilliance or have had a lot of investment in like Léo Chú, Georgi Minoungou and Pedro de la Vega.

The 1st priority this season should've been to get rid of a lot of our older legends and bring depth for positions where we already have a older replacement and buying proven talents in their prime to replace those that don't have ready made replacements. And instead of getting rid of some pieces for new ones. We instead trying to make a puzzle with the same worn out pieces but also adding some new pieces here and there which does not work. And that has also resulted in hesitancy in the transfer window with us only bringing in newer young talents like the ultra talented Omar Hassan and Leo Burney. With the only proven talents being linked to are Jesus Ferreira which is awesome and also Paul Arriola who is a pretty good impact player. But there are better out there willing to come to Seattle.

The best clubs in the room know when it's time to move on from their frustrating and have plan As, Bs and Cs as to who can replace them. What's frustrating is that the Sounders for many players do have and have even been developing those plans for years but now that it's time to put them into action we're not willing to and that may cost us this season. Thanks a bunch for reading!
