In 2010 1 of our 1st ever DPs was the Uruguayan midfielder Fernández and in his 5 seasons with the Sounders the man who's been capped 12 times by the 2 time World Cup winning Uruguay National Team. With great moments like scoring the 1st goal against against Isidro Metapán to get the her Sounders into the win against the El Salvadorian club 2–1 on aggregate score and get into group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League. And after leaving for the Chicago Fire he came back to the Sounders in 2016 recording a goal in a win against Real Salt Lake in the regular-season finale but only briefly as he'd leave for the final time next season. So what happened to him after all that, that's what I'm here to find out!

He did a bit of hopping around his home nation of Uruguay before finally finding club to settle down at for the rest of his career. 1st going to San Martín de San Juan making 25 appearances then making 6 appearances for San Martín de Tucumán. He transferred in the same year to Rampla Juniors where he made 14 appearances and scored a goal before he finally settled down and found a home for the rest of his career at Club Plaza Colonia de Deportes. Impressively despite his advanced age he made a 102 appearances for the green and white club. Which was even more appearances than he made for the Seattle Sounders. And he played for the Uruguayan club that was founded in 1917 from 2019 to 2024.

But after the club was regulated by average in 2024 (whatever that means)
Fernández decided to call it quits on a long and great career. And retired but he didn't wait long to hop back into the sport in some way. As he states in this interview the Ex-Sounder is now a assistant coach for Uruguay at a U-15 men's level. Using his experience and skill to help develop those in his home country to live out the same dream as he did and perhaps even becoming better than he ever was. And maybe just maybe playing a very small role in helping his country reach the top again. We'll have to wait and see though but I wish him the best of luck. Thanks a bunch for reading!
