The latest transfer rumor that have been making the rounds is that the South Korean enforcer might return to the Seattle Sounders. He had a very successful stint with the Sounders after leaving China something that was "biggest transfer in Korean history" at the time at least. He helped the Sounders to a MLS Cup to end his 2 year stint here before he returned to his home country with Ulsan Hyundai. But now he wants to return to inside the gates of the Emerald City.

His time since leave the Rave Green has been extremely successful as he's help led Ulsan Hyundai to great success. During that time, Ulsan finished 1st or 2nd in their domestic league every year, won the 2020 Asian Champions League, played in the 2020 Club World Cup and qualified for this summer’s Club World Cup through the federation’s club-ranking system. And I mean he led them he was a regular starter for the Korean superclub. And he was crucial for the Sounders success as well having played 5,700+ minutes for the Sounders in all contests during his only 2 seasons here.

But at 35-years old I'm gonna pretend he can do the exact same things he did half a decade ago and that's 1 problem I do have with the transfer is that I want to see younger players still. And especially if he's starting he'd be a very short term solution since father time is looming over his shadow at this point. I'd rather see a younger depth piece to add to bolster a already young defense. But that's where I can see the plus's.

The Sounders not only have signed and drafted very young defenders this season, like Stu Hawkins, Travian Sousa, Ryan Baer, Demian Alvarez and Leo Burneyand maybe none of em are quite starter quality yet. Having a veteran, accomplished and someone who's been on the Sounders before to either be a example to learn from or to mentor some of even all of em directly could do a multiverse of good. What's getting lost in all the talk about the Sounders recent transfers. Is that the Sounders are building up a very promising young core that I'm sure they believe will carry the torch for us and we'll have great success with. And that players like Kim Kee-hee
who we brought in and João Paulo who we resigned will be used to mentor and have a smooth transition between the eras and get these young guns ready to compete in a top 10 league in the world.

And with the quality work he's done in South Korea I'm positive the ex-South Korea defender well do valuable work for the Sounders this upcoming season. Thanks a bunch for reading!
