Sounders maybe moving on from Braudilio Rodriguez.

He was not on a guaranteed contract and faced an uphill battle to make squad as he occupies an international roster spot.

As the Sounders file into Spain there's a notable absence amongst the RAVE Green ranks. As the Guinean-Portuguese forward has been forced to see the plane depart without him as he stays in Seattle, as reported by Niko Moreno. And as reported on by Jeremiah Oshan he was on a non guaranteed contract and because of he occupies 1 of the Sounders international roster spots. It doesn't look likely he'll return to the Sounders or the Defiance.

Rodriguez started with 2 games and 1 goal in 2019/2020 in the Taça de Portugal with the Club Sintra Football before deciding to go down the college soccer route in America of course. Playing for Franklin Pierce he had a all-time career for a NCAA Division II player. In 45 matches he had 31 goals and tallied 25 assists for his whole career. With 2022 truly being a GOAT effort having 20 goals (tied for second in Division II) and 22 assists (first in Division II) in 2022, en route to a 25-0-1 season and the National Championship and as you guessed for that the awards came fast and easy for him. Ron Lenz National Player of the Year award, given to the top men’s soccer player in Division II as well as the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year. Rodrigues also was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America First Team, All-East Region First Team and All-Eat Region Player of the Year, establishing himself as a school legend.

And while it's easy to dismiss his success because it was Division II but his start with the Defiance was awesome and showed great potential. In 2023 in 28 games he had 20 total goal contributions with 15 goals and 5 assists showing both goal scoring prowess and play-making like he did in his college days. He also scored two more in the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs with a brace in a Western Conference Quarterfinals victory over Houston Dynamo 2. His most notable moment was when Rodrigues became only the 3rd player in club history to record a hat trick on August 9 against Sporting Kansas City II. A awesome rookie year but sadly that's not how 2024 would go.

In 2024 Rodrigues would suffer a very serious muscle injury and missed 33 games as he was injured for 184 days. He only played 6 games but did have a goal contribution every 2 games, showing further potential. Scoring 2 goals and 1 assist. So while he does have a lot of potential with his status as a international player plus I couldn't find how serious his injury is. I hope it isn't so serious that it ruins his career. But with Jesús Ferreira joining the Sounders I understand them thinking we don't need Rodrigues. And with the Sounders being heavily linked with a move to get back Kim Kee-Hee we might wanna use that foreign player slot on the Korean enforcer or even a foreign attacker that could further bolster the Sounders ranks. Either way wish him the best thanks a bunch for reading!
