MLS Cup Thoughts … And Then Some

Okay, forgive me for the last few days…I’ve been sick and under the weather. So this site is behind the times. And needs a little updating. I would of course write about the awesome Galaxy victory (*gag*) but… honestly I only watched bits and pieces of MLS Cup, being that it was on ESPN–meaning I had to stream it. Streaming things isn’t bad in general, but considering the event I was rather displeased with that remaining my only option.

Everyone seems pretty content on hoisting Landon Donovan and giving him the trophy to drink from as he knocked in the penalty kick. Let’s continually forget about how poor he looked just a few weeks ago against Seattle in that first half or even how he was last night in the first half. His effort obviously isn’t there and personally, if I was a Galaxy fan, I’d be sufficiently worried about his tenure length at this point. Frankly, if I were his brother-in-law I’d be worried Landon might end up living on my couch for the better part of the next year and then some. Supply goodies dude, I guarantee your going to have a house guests.

One thing that was revealing to me, after being pointed out earlier in the week, was Beckham calling it quits at the right time. It’s obvious that the Galaxy are transition into a different team and establishing a new style of offense. It’ll be interesting to see, a long with weather or not Kaka will be replacing their English Designated Player, how their team will look come next year. I get the Kaka move… a lot more than what I would have gotten with Frank Lampard. It would be simply stunning to see him in this league if LA were to pull it off.

With the end of the season, it starts the transfer rumors as we’re less than a month away from the transfer window and already we’ve seen options declined on a few players so there will be general movement around the league soon. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t get all that transactions with MLS. I’m still learning and trying to understand the cap and player contracts and everything. It’s very cloak and shadow at times.

Anyways… just a few thoughts for the night. Be back tomorrow to discuss the general names that keep popping up in connection with Seattle. Night, night.

Topics: David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Kaka, Landon Donovan
