If Kei Kamara Can Go To The English Premier League, Why Couldn’t Brad Evans?

News broke today that Sporting KC Winger Kei Kamara is set to head out to the Barclays Premier League and join the Birds at Norwhich.  This is hardly surprising as general rumours had abounded over the last week. Ironically, if you would have told me that both Graham Zusi and Kamara had gone out on training stints this off-season, and only one of them had been involved a move, I would have assumed it was Zusi.

That’s not hate on Kamara, but it’s very surprising that West Ham either couldn’t reach a deal or couldn’t afford the, likely, asinine asking price. This is, of course, on the heels of the Brek Shea deal. A deal that was, at one point, believed to be dead due to the high valuation MLS placed on it’s young player.

It’s obvious that even with only a few deals getting done that the world is starting to look more and more to the States for low cost, but solid solutions. There was training stints had by many–to include our own Ozzie Alonso. Which brings me to my point. How much longer is it until teams start sniffing around the Sounders?

Regardless of how you feel about Brad Evans performance last night, the young man has undeniably shown glimpse of being an extremely valuable piece. We know that Evans would be interested, he’s mentioned so in past interviews, in going abroad. This leaves me to wonder. Could he make sense in an 18 for a club in the Championship squad, a Bundesliga 2 squad or even maybe a team in Trukey? Possibly, as a quasi-Alan Gordon, sixth-man type or even in certain circumstances as a starter.

I’m sure there are plenty of people that would hard on the idea, general nay-sayers–and to be honest it’s fair. The guy doesn’t necessarily even have a starting job in MLS. But, I think if you are talking about a box-to-box midfielder, who also maybe one of the most underrated soccer minds in the league, why not? He’s a great linking player who can the forwards and help sort out the midfield. I’m certainly not trying to run him out of town. But with my own weird perspective of how well he performed last night. I feel like he could certainly help a few teams and get paid while doing it. Do you consider Evans an international trade target?
