Both the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC dominate Week 15’s MLS team of the week.
This week’s MLS Team of the Week is pretty New York heavy, with two players from New York City FC and two from the New York Red Bulls and more from each team on the bench. That isn’t something we Sounders fans like to see after Sunday’s loss to the Red Bulls
In goal we have DC United’s Bill Hamid who held a shutout against the Houston Dynamo and had four saves to his name.
In week 15’s MLS Team of the Week we have a three-man back line with Sporting’s Saad Abdul-Salaam, Toronto’s Drew Moor, and Colorado’s (and former Sounder) Marc Burch. Abdul-Salaam had six tackles and seven interceptions throughout Sporting’s game against Dallas and created two chances. Moor scored the lone goal in Toronto’s clash against the LA Galaxy and had four interceptions throughout the game. Former Sounder Marc Burch had a passing accuracy of 84% for Colorado and had five tackles to his name against the Chicago Fire.
More from Sounders Nation
One of the two MLS Team of the Week forwards is another New York City player David Villa, who had one goal and seven shots against Philadelphia. The other player up top is Jan Manuel Martinez from Real Salt Lake, who created four chances, scored a goal, and won seven fouls for his team.
The bench also boasts three more New York players, Luis Robles and Dax McCarthy from the Red Bulls and Frank Lampard for New York City FC.
Hopefully with a win next week against NYCFC, some Sounders will receive some recognition in the MLS Team of the Week.
