Clint Dempsey now has four goals in his last three games, hitting top form at just the right time for the Seattle Sounders MLS Cup run.
After 85 minutes of play at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, the Sounders were awarded a free-kick in the perfect position. Step up Clint Dempsey. The Sounders main man took charge of the situation and curled an unstoppable effort right into the postage stamp.
The Sounders were patched up for the game, missing key players like Osvaldo Alonso and Brad Evans. The free-kick from Dempsey was sweet relief, allowing the Sounders to take a lead to Dallas. Here’s the goal in all its beauty:
The perfectly placed free-kick from Dempsey will give the Sounders something to fight for in Dallas. However, just one goal for Dallas puts them back in the driving seat.
It is clear that the Sounders missed both Alonso and Evans, although the latter my be the most significant omission if not ready to play by Sunday.
The Sounders will need to keep things tight at the back and Zach Scott’s lack of pace could be of real concern against a FC Dallas side pushing for the win.
