Copa America Tonight: What to Watch

There are 2 more big international soccer games today, starting with Mexico-Venezuela and ending with Uruguay-Jamaica.

The Euro’s may be over for the day, but there is still plenty of soccer to watch today. It all starts off with Mexico taking on Venezuela a 5pm on FS1. Both of these teams have qualified for the quarter-finals, both sitting pretty with 6 points apiece on top of Group C. Because of goal differential, Mexico is currently in first, meaning that a win or a tie will make them winners of the group. Venezuela has to win to claim first place. Whoever claims first place in the group will most likely play the winner of the Chile-Panama (or Chile if there is a tie) and the team that loses today and claims second in the group will most likely play Argentina.

The second game of today, Uruguay vs Jamaica, isn’t for anything other than pride since both are eliminated from the tournament. Jamaica will look to make amends for a disappointing Copa America run after and incredible run in last year’s Gold Cup, claiming second after a controversial 1-3 loss to Mexico in the final. Uruguay, who lost to the eventual champions Chile in last year’s Copa America in the quarter-finals, will also look to win some pride in tonight’s game. Uruguay was favorites to advance into the quarter-finals over Jamaica and Venezuela but only scored 1 goal so far in the Copa America, and that was in a 3-1 loss to Mexico. This game will be on FS1 as well at 7pm, right after the Mexico-Venezuela clash.

The United States will learn who their possible semi-final matchup will be against since the second place team from Group C will be playing the winner of Group D on the same side of the bracket. Once again, both games can be seen on FS1 or on Fox Sports Go.
