Reign move up in NWSL Power Rankings

Seattle Reign move into 5th place in the week 9 NWSL Power Rankings.

The NWSL released their week 9 Power Rankings on Monday, and the Seattle Reign moved up to the 5th spot. They, along with many other mid-table teams, jumped past the Orlando Pride which fell four places after another defeat. The Western New York Flash retained the top spot after a third straight victory. In fact the top four all remained the same – Portland Thorns FC, Chicago Red Stars, and Washington Spirit, respectively. The top four teams all sit within one point of each other.

Havana Solaun’s goal gave the Seattle Reign a 1-0 victory over Houston on Sunday (check out the match recap here). Houston meanwhile fell three spots into the bottom of the rankings. Their third straight loss sees them on 7 points from 7 matches.

With the return of international players, and Megan Rapinoe’s return getting very close the Reign are in a great position to quickly move up not only the power rankings, but the table as well.

US Senator Patty Murray was on hand Sunday afternoon to speak to the Seattle Reign crowd on Sunday ahead of the match. She was honored as a Seattle Reign FC Legend for her contributions in the community, an on-going part of pre-game celebrations.

The Reign return to action June 19th at Sky Blue FC.
