Even though the Sounders played this past Wednesday in the Open Cup, Seattle hasn’t played an MLS match since their midweek clash against DC United, about two and a half weeks ago. For the first time this season, they will be traveling to New Jersey to take on the New York Red Bulls, a team who’s been on fire as of late. They have won their last three straight games and in those games Bradley Wright-Phillips scored five goals and picked up an assist.

The Sounders came into the Copa America break doing the exact opposite, finally breaking a three game losing streak with a 2-0 win against DC United right before the Copa break. Seattle will be looking to keep this momentum going and get back to their winning ways. In order to do this, the Sounders defense will have to hold strong against this Red Bulls front line that has been on fire as of late, outscoring opponents 11-0 in the last three games.

The Red Bulls have a three game winning streak against the Sounders when playing in Red Bull Arena. The Sounders will try to break that streak with a win, which could push Seattle into 8th place in the Western Conference, depending how the Sporting KC-FC Dallas match-up goes, and only two points off a playoff spot.

Kick-off is at 4:30pm on FS1. You can follow along on social media and stream the game on Fox Sports Go.
