Sounders to Play Kitsap Pumas in Open Cup

With a 3-1 win over the Sacramento Republic, the Kitsap Pumas will play the Sounders in the 4th Round of the US Open Cup.

The date has been set for a while but now the Sounders know who they will be playing in the 4th Round of the 2016 US Open Cup. The Kitsap Pumas beat out Sacramento Republic 3-1 Wednesday night to claim a spot at Starfire on Wednesday, June 15th against Seattle. All 4 goals came within a 5-minute period with Kitsap’s Castro opening the scoring in the 60th minute. Iwasa equalized for Sacramento in the 61st-minute but in the 63rd-minute Ramos put the Pumas back in the lead and in the 65th-minute Castro got his second of the night to make it 3-1.

The Sounders will look to make a push for their 5th US Open Cup title, after crashing out of last year’s competition with a 3-1 loss to the Timbers; a game we all can remember for the Sounders ending with 7 players on the field, a very injured Obafemi Martins, Dempsey tearing referee Daniel Radford’s notebook, and the start of a very long and unsuccessful summer for the Rave Green. I am sure I am not the only one who wants this year’s Open Cup campaign to end differently.

Kickoff on June 15th will be at 7:30 at Starfire Stadium. The game will most likely be streamed live on You-Tube for those that don’t go.
