Sounders 2 claim a 2-1 win over Timbers 2

Sounders 2 grabs their second straight win as they beat Timbers 2 with a score line of 2-1.

Timbers 2 hosted the Seattle Sounders 2 at Providence Park for the second time of this USL season Tuesday night. The first encounter saw Timbers 2 claim their first ever win over Sounders 2 but this latest clash saw Sounders 2 leave with all 3 points after beating Timbers 2 2-1.

Sounders 2 got the scoring started in the 35th minute with Myron Samuel scoring on a Magnus cross form the right side. Then 8 minutes later, John Magnus himself got on the scoreboard when his shot, originally on target, was deflected by a Timbers 2 player towards another defender who put it into his own net. It was a very unfortunate series of events for the Timbers 2 back line but it gave Magnus a goal to go with his assist on his first start for Sounders 2. Magnus was also named USLSoccer.com’s Man of the Match for his performance.

Timbers 2 was in control for much of the second half. 18-year old Timbers 2 player Blake Bodily scored an incredible lobbing header that looped over Charlie Lyon to pull one goal back for Portland but Sounders 2 defended well for the rest of the game, not allowing Timbers 2 to get their equalizer.
