Obafemi Martins To Turkey?

*Updated 12-21-2013: 2:47 PST
On Saturday a picture surfaced with Obafemi Martins in Turkey.

There now looks to be some truth to the rumor he might not return to Seattle in 2014. The Sounder forward was quoted as saying he wanted to return to turkey and join up with his former coach as quoted in an interview with an Italian reporter earlier this fall.
Many dismissed it as it would be with his former coach, however if Martins is in Turkey, some will speculate where there is smoke there is fire.

There are also inference a transfer will be finalized in the next several days.

*A Turkish site lists Koray Deniz as the chairman of the transfer comittee of Rizespor.

* Another report with an un-named source “close” to Martins said the team and Martins have officially met.

Seattle spent over $4 million to get Martins from La Liga team Levante last spring, and would likely be looking to recoup it in any possible transfer to a foreign club.

Not surprised in the slightest. Another DP wanting out after a year. Say its because of the WC if you want, but this club has a history of DP’s wanting out early.

Yeah but I mean he was back and forth several times early last year, playing In a country you have never played in can be different, may be too much pressure? The team wouldn’t let him go unless they recoup their investment, which would mean another high profile acquisition.
